ISO 50001 is a voluntary international standard developed by ISO (the International Organization for Standardization).
ISO 50001 provides organizations with the framework for implementing Energy Management Systems (EnMS), enabling a company to follow a systematic approach to achieving continuous improvement in energy performance, including energy efficiency, energy utilization and energy consumption.
ISO 50001 provides benefits to all organizations, large and small, public and private, production and services, in all regions of the world.
The objective of the standard is broad applicability across economic sectors, and it is estimated that the standard will affect up to 60% of the energy consumption in the world.
If a company in Denmark wants to enter into an agreement on energy efficiency with the Danish Energy Authorities, one of the requirements is that the company has to establish, utilize and maintain an EnMS that complies with ISO 50001.
BKU Consult has already contributed to the implementation of certified EnMS according to ISO 50001 at several companies in Denmark, Sweden, the Middle East and Asia. In addition, BKU Consult conducts training and seminars at global level in the implementation of EnMS according to ISO 50001 for politicians, business leaders and consultants.
